I truly believe the darkest moments of our lives are the ones that truly test our resilience, our values, our kindness.
Two years ago, during my second year in university, I was in a near-fatal car accident that left my face suffering from third-degree burns.
Just two weeks after my accident, I was back on campus with my wounds hidden with sunglasses, face mask, and a sun-protective hat so I could continue to heal and still focus on my studies.
The first three months of my recovery required constant cleaning of my face of blood, extra skin with medicated wools and equipment to recover. I was just thankful to have a heartbeat and I believe my gratitude guided me.
Let us never allow our circumstances to define me. What defines us are our responses to life challenges.
